The Readers Library

This project aims to address key questions about making the connection between a book and its audience.
Who should introduce the book to the world? Is it the designer behind the cover? the publishing house? why shouldn't it be the readers? The Readers Library sheds light on the readers themselves and crowns them as the primary guardian of the book. Using an integrated reading experience between the tangible, the digital and the virtual, which expands the meaning of the traditional Ex Libris - "from the Library of".

This project was created as part of the graduate program at the Bezalel Academy.

Photography by Guy Aon and Dor Kedmi.

responsive design

This project expresses the short attention span we experience in the design fields through paralleling three common dynamics: flipping through a book, mentioning and referencing other works and the adaptive nature and complexity of responsive design.

This project was created as part of the graduate program in Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design.

following the book

As a visual communication designer engaged in improving the reading experience, I set out to examine hidden layers in the book object.
Readers leave traces on the book indicating the interaction between them and the book. Through a series of experiments involving locating amino acids on books, mapping fingerprints and comparing them with evidence of bacteria growth, findings emerged that depicts hidden layers on books. For example: The number of readers who held a book, Bacterial configurations that indicate the time spent with the book, and ways of using the book through identifying food traces on recipe books or flowers that dried between pages.

This project was created as part of a cooperation between the Industrial Design graduate program at Bezalel and the Institute of Chemistry at the Hebrew University.
